What is Ambisome Injection?

Ambisome Injection is used to treat serious, life-threatening fungal infections. It is used to treat severe fungal infections such as blood infection with candida, aspergillus, cryptococcus, fusarium, zygomycetes, blastomycetes or coccidiodes, or cryptococcal meningitis (inflammation of the brain)

What are the uses Ambisome Injection?

Ambisome Injection is used for treating,

  • Severe fungal infections
  • Kala-azar

How to Use Ambisome Injection?

  • Normally take Ambisome Injection exactly as your doctor has told you.
  • Do not crush or chew the tablet.
  • You should tell your doctor immediately if you think you received too much
  • It works by killing the fungi which can cause serious infections. It is given by a doctor or nurse and should not be self-administered.

If you forget to take Ambisome Injection

  • Take your Ambisome Injection at the next scheduled time if you miss a dose and it is close to the next scheduled dose.
  • Do not take a double dose of injection to make up for the one you missed.

If you take more Ambisome Injection

  • Contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital if you are taking more than the recommended dosage.
  • These effects usually wear off in a few hours.

If you stop taking Ambisome Injection

  • Until your doctor advises you to do so, do not stop taking this medicine.

Talk to your doctor if you:

  • During driving.
  • Are a smoker.
  • Are allergic to any other ingredients of this medicine.
  • Have kidneys or liver problems.

What are the side effects of Ambisome Injection?

  • Nausea
  • Stomach cramp
  • Fever
  • Anemia (low number of red blood cells)
  • Heartburn
  • Headache
  • Vomiting
  • Hyperventilation (rapid breathing)
  • Injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness)
